It has been Christmas in July and August in my design world lately. I have entered few designs for Minted’s That’s a Wrap! Personalizable Holiday Gift Wrap Challenge and two of my designs were picked out of 459 submissions. You can see both of them below. A quick sneak of the day-of-wedding stationery for the wedding this weekend. It’s been a crazy, fast turn around but I’m happy we made the deadline! My favorite designs from this wedding are the unique, square place cards. I absolutely can’t wait any longer to see more images from this wedding ;)

I’m finally getting into updating my portfolio section! This wedding collateral was designed for a sweet couple, Beth and Nate, who wanted a sophisticated suite that was also appropriate for a destination wedding in Seattle, Washington. The wedding happened few years back but their invitation is so lovely, I felt it needed to be shared here. Beth and Nate’s Fourth of July’s ceremony was held at Kubota Garden in Rainier Beach, and the weather couldn’t be more perfect with sunny skies and a rainbow. The heartfelt ceremony included poetry readings by friends and a surprise performance of Patti Griffin’s “Heavenly Day” by Beth. With an appreciation for paper goods and a killer sense of design, Beth was a dream to work with. This invitation suite was filled with a fun texture through the mixing of patterns, scrolls and typefaces and printing of gold foil and a turquoise and gold letterpress on off-white cotton paper. My favorite element was the tri-fold day of events program featuring lots of vintage scrolls and illustrations and a perforated rsvp card.
Here’s a peak at a recently wrapped up wedding collateral. This custom map not only captured the spirit and look of the wedding but also introduced the guests to the location of the wedding ceremony and reception. It’s always such a great idea to show a smaller area, a close-up view of the location. I’ll be sharing more images from this fun wedding invitation suite in the next few months.
I recently stumbled upon Tiro Tiro, a jewelry line out of Portland. I love the distinct simplicity and bold designs of her pieces, they are very feminine and beautiful. She’s using interesting materials like colored thread and rope combined with bronze and gold. The cuffs are to die for and I really like the stacked rings. And the styling of her collections is pretty fab too.
I’m so excited to share one of my most recent projects – I had the pleasure of designing promo postcards for my lovely friend Rachel of Finch & Thistle Events. She needed promo cards to feature her newest work alongside her all time favorite floral designs and styling. I kept the design very simple including her logo on the front and contact information on the back. I had them printed on beautiful white heavy stock that’s 100% post consumer waste, an ideal choice for a eco friendly designer and stylist from the PNW. She can use her new promo cards as a thank you notes or a leave behind pieces.
I have wanted to create a real photo book for our family for ages. With all of our photos being digital I felt we needed to move our memories off of computer and into our life. What I wanted for us and our kids is to sit down with the book in their laps and re-live the moments of our life. Few weeks ago, right before the holidays, I finally placed an order for a hard cover book from Artifact Uprising. I’ve been a fan of Artifact Uprising for a few years and have been admiring their breathtakingly beautiful books and most importantly design philosophy and environmental policy. And, I love their tag line: Inspired by the disappearing beauty of the tangible.
The book arrived yesterday and wow! what a beautiful book! I am in love this book! It is perfect! I couldn’t be more thrilled with the final product – the paper is soft and quality amazing. For this book, I picked the most memorable photos from the past year and showed them in chronological order. I hope to continue to do this each year! I plan to make at least one book at the end of every year, so that we can have a library of our lives through pictures. It is such a great way to preserve memories!
Happy 2014, everyone! What has happened to 2013? How did it go by so quickly? It was a total blur, yet it was a great year. For me, it was the year of change. I’ve quit my job and enjoyed spending more time with my precious little family. I am still working out my resolutions for this year but I know for sure the top priority is to focus on my family. I also want to get my life organized, get rid of clutter, exercise and eat better, spend less time in front of computer, and just start fresh. I am ready to take on the new year. And this year I will follow my dreams.
